25th yrs of Triathlon

Yesterday was another day in the Lake Hayes tri - well I actually did the duathlon 1.5km run 20km bike 5km run. Had to enter the open class as there was no vets division -which left it hard.
But with a steady first run and on to the bike only some hundred meters or so behind the leading runners it was ok. The bike riding from Weds night stood me in good stead and only a couple people passed me but I passed a good few, and then in the run I managed to run down a good few more - so ended up with a 2nd overall in the duathlon - not to bad I guess ($50 voucher from outside sports)

MESSAGE FROM ANTONIO DE LA ROSA,

MESSAGE FROM ANTONIO DE LA ROSA, ORGANIZER OF THE
BIMBACHE EXTREM CASTILLA Y LEÓN 2010, ARWCHAMPIONSHIP

Hello friends,

Close to end the year 2009, the organization of the Adventure Race World Championship 2010 hopes to see you for all at the end of September in Castilla y León, Spain.

We are organizing the best possible event and are sure that we will be able to fulfil the expectations that you all have deposited in us.

The competition will go through three provinces of Castilla y León -Ávila, Salamanca and Zamora- where some of the most beautiful places of the Iberian Peninsula are located: valleys, mountains, rivers and lakes in a very varied geography, which will cause your surprise.

The best time to carry out an adventure race of this magnitude in Spain is October; since the autumn has just begun, and the temperature is not so hot as in summer neither so cold as in the winter months.

As you know I am devoting myself to the world of adventure raids since 1996 and have taken part in almost all the important competitions about the world, and I am going to extract the best of each one to organize this 2010 world championship.

The organization will do its best in order to achieve that the results and classifications are just and fair, without any influence of external helps or of the better or worse support of the different teams.

In order to do so, and in spite the fact that inscriptions with and without assistance of the organization are allowed, our main effort will be directed not only to organize the most important adventure competition of 2010, but also to provide equal opportunities to all the teams.

Assistance will be provided with boxes or cans of 150 and 220 liters, depending of the discipline, delivered by the organization, with safety closing, in such a way that they could not be opened or manipulated by the teams that bring their own assistance. Only the organization staff will be able to open them in the assistance points and in the transitions.

In addition, the transport of bicycles during the competition will be carried out by the organization for all the teams, to avoid that bikes belonging to assisted teams can be manipulated or improved so that the teams assisted by the organization are not disadvantaged for this motive.

In recent competitions I've been able to verify external helps fraudulently used thanks to the new technologies, f. e., telephonic calls from the teams to their assistances, consultations to Google maps to know the best route or where other teams are, etc… We will take a special care to control these actions and to penalize those realizing them.

I believe that some new technologies, as a device of satellite position for each team, are necessary for the safety and the follow-up of teams, but they should be EQUAL for all in internet. The organization of the Bimbache Extrem Castilla y León 2010 will provide this service.

Allowing teams with their own vehicle of assistance will be just a way of saving in the inscription for home teams or for those intending to come to the race with their own vehicle. For all the other teams we suggest the assistance of the organization, which includes the airport transfers, hotel fares before and after the race, assistance, etc… All these items would surely overcome the amount that this inscription option costs.

In spite of the fact that the event will take place after many months, a score of about twenty teams have already confirmed the inscription to benefit from the discount that exists if this one is realized before December 31. If you have already decided your participation we recommend you to realize the steps as soon as possible.

On the other hand I am collaborating in a decisive way in the design and organization of the Costa Rica Adventure Race, test included in the ARWSeries for 2010 and that will take place from August 20 to August 28. The inscription to this competition will include everything: assistance, housing in hotel before and after the test, transfers, etc.

The cost is 2500 dollars and there will be a special discount of 20 % for all the teams that register in the ARWChampionship 2010 of Spain.

It will be a non stop competition with a maximum duration of 60 to 70 hours. We do not want to arrange a too long test since it's the first edition, besides it's nearness to the World Championship. You can find all the information in www.arcostarica.com.
Costa Rica is an incredible country, with spectacular fauna and flora and tropical climate.
The competition will begin on the Pacific Ocean coast and will finish in a location of the center North of the country.

At the beginning of 2010 we will send our novelties of the ARWChampionship 2010 in order that your training and preparation is the suitable one to enjoy the most important adventure event of next year.

Best regards. I expect to see you for all in Castilla y León, Spain
